We are so excited to welcome Janina Boyle (she/her) to the Clique team as our new design intern. Janina comes from a unique background, having been a teacher before diving into the world of design. She blew us away with her portfolio of work, and we can’t wait to see what she does next here at Clique. Here are some other things you should know about Janina…

What are you most excited about being here?

“The innovation happening here. I was looking at agencies in Chicago that had won awards, which is how I found Clique, and then I saw all the work Clique produces. It’s just amazing and innovative and I’m really excited to learn from the designers here.”

What does your ideal weekend look like?

“I’m really into cars. So anytime I can drive my car it’s a good weekend, and in the city I can’t do that a lot. I love going on road trips or taking my car out to the track.”

The track?

“We have a rally car, the kind you can drift in. There are courses around here that you can go to do that. That’s what me and my husband love to do on the weekend.”

That sounds terrifying / insanely fun at the same time.

Final meal…?

“My Aunt’s tamales she makes for Christmas. She only makes them once a year—it’s an intense process, she makes them from scratch.”

Sounds like it’s worth the year-long wait!

What did you want to be growing up?

“I just wanted to be famous. Singer, actress, whatever, just famous.”

If you could be the best in the world at one skill but bad at everything else what would that skill be and why?

Don’t think you can beat that answer.

3 things you never travel without?

“My camera, red lipstick, and comfy shoes.”

What’s something that makes your day a little bit better?

“My little dog, Chiefy. He’s my little baby. It’s the best when you come home and he’s so excited to see you.”

Best advice you’ve received?

“My friend Tracy told me, ‘Don’t take everything to heart because not everyone is going to like everything you do.’ Now I can take criticism, which is especially important in design. I learn from it rather than making it so personal.”

Excellent advice. I think we can all learn from that. We’re so excited to have you on our team, Janina!
