We are so excited to have Megan Wenzl join our marketing team as an SEO Outreach Associate. With a background in journalism, she brings a startup spirit and a passion for storytelling to our growing team. Oh—and like me, she’s a Michigander (yay invasion!). Megan’s excited to see what kind of impact she can have for our clients, and we are too. Here’s some other things you should know about her…
What brought you to Clique?
“I’ve always believed work is something you should be proud of on a daily basis. You should enjoy it. I want to have a meaningful career, and I’ve found that in storytelling. I love that Clique feels the same way: build something you’re passionate about.”
She knows she’s done interviewing, right?
So, how’s your first week going?
“It’s going well. I’ve learned a lot. I’ve always been a writer, but this is the first time I’m thinking about strategy first. It’s new, but exciting.”
Alright, enough about work. What does your ideal weekend look like?
“First of all, summer in Chicago. And then—and I know it’s cliché—but I love walking on the lakefront path.”
And I know it’s cliché to be like ‘no way! me too!’ but…NO WAY! ME TOO!
“A deep dish pizza from Giordano’s. When I first moved to Chicago, I ate Giordano’s pizza like twice a month. It was definitely a problem but it was so good.”
What’s your favorite holiday and why?
“The 4th of July because it’s in the summer, and I like grilling…well…I like the benefits of the grilling: the barbecue. Most summers, I go to northern Michigan with my family for the 4th. Really, it has everything I love in a holiday: food, Michigan, and family.”
I’m a Michigander too, so there was some major #bonding happening from here on out. No, we didn’t do the hand-as-a-map thing.
What’s something you do to make your day a little bit better?
“I like to go for a walk outside and listen to music.”
“Ummm not really. Wait. Actually. This is really funny. Celine Dion. If I’m feeling down, I listen to her, and I feel a lot better. I love her.”
If you could be the best in the world at one skill what would that skill be and why?
“Writing fiction. I love reading it, and when you finish an amazing fiction book, there’s a feeling…”
She pauses. I nod. It’s a feeling I’ve felt. A lot of us have. It’s magic.
“I’d love to be able to create that feeling for other people.”
Lastly, what’s the best advice you’ve received?
“Every time you create something, aim to make it as good as an Oscar-winning movie. No matter what, whether it’s an article, a white paper, whatever. Know that you’ve put everything you could into it.”
And we can’t see what you’ll create here. Welcome to the team, Megan!
